Metallurgical Consulting

Ian Linton has been a consultant in metallurgical operations for over 8 years, and he has over 30 years of experience in metallurgy as a technical manager. In addition, he has over 20 years of experience as a General Manager in charge of P&L. This experience has given him an understanding of how to make appropriate and necessary changes to refining and recovery operations, without interfering with production goals and financial targets.

Ian spent the first 13 years of his working life in the operation at Capper Pass, England, which, at the time, was the worlds largest and most complex secondary smelter and refinery. He started his career in the R & D department, and finished as the Group Manager of Operations. Capper Pass refined 10% of the worlds Tin, and also recovered Copper, Nickel, Lead, Solder, Antimony, Bismuth, Cadmium, Indium, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Palladium.

As the General Manager of operations at Proler Recycling in the USA, Ian was the first person to get Copper etchants generated by the printed circuit board industry delisted as a hazardous waste. This was done by an innovative new recycling process which saved the industry millions of dollars in taxes.

Ian has written many papers that have been published throughout the world, and has an unprecidented knowledge in an array of metals, both hydro and pyrometallurgical.

Metal Solutions also offers engineering and analytical services to the glass industry to enhance their by-product value. On numerous occassions, this service has enabled the by-products from this industry to be recycled by Metal Solutions instead of being landfilled.
